I grew up along the beaches and waterways of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and use these settings in some of my books. I write tender/sweet romances that fall into the G to PG rating.
In 2006 Avalon Books, a library distributor, published my first book A LIGHT IN THE DARK then went on to publish two other ones. My last book with Avalon, ON THE CREST OF A WAVE, was a finalist in the 2010 National Readers' Choice Awards. It's one of my favorites because it is set on Ship Island in the Gulf of Mexico. During my childhood I spent a tremendous amount of time on the island as my mother's family ran the ferries to the island and my parents worked there periodically. I even spent the night in the Civil War fort during a storm.
My next book, WINDSWEPT, was released by Amazon Montlake in December 2012. WINDSWEPT is set in beautiful Key West, FL. I dipped my toes in the Indie waters with the publication of two books PLAYING WITH FEELING and FOREVER, MY LOVE, then went on to have two romantic suspense novels published by The Wild Rose Press. SAVING THE CHILDREN and KEEPING HOPE ALIVE have Special Ops heroes. These two books are not in print at the present, but keep checking.
As you can see, I don't stick with one genre. My last three books can be classified as historical inspirational romances and involve the Fletcher family in Independence, MO. I love using children, teens and the elderly in my stories, and I even have one set in a nursing home. Check out A SOLDIER'S HONOR.
My husband of 54 years and I lived on a quiet bayou harbor along the Gulf Coast and loved spending time together boating, fishing, and visiting nearby islands. Now we live in a sweet town in central Louisiana and now spend time with our son and his family. I love being a grandmother!
My books and artwork can be found in Booth 75 at Louisiana Cajun Culture; 515 N Pine Street in DeRidder, LA.
Even in this high-tech world of fast living, each of us has a place of escape. For thirty years, my place was a quiet bayou harbor. The mirror slick surface of the black water and the swaying marsh grasses take me from season to season, not with changing colors, but with the wildlife it supports.
Graceful herons, snowy white egrets, and crash-diving pelicans live alongside of alligators, blue crabs, and playful otters. Thousands of minnows bring the water to life in the spring, and mullet jump across the water in summer and fall. Most of my stories are set along the beaches, islands, and waterways of the Gulf Coast.
Ironically my first novel was set in the beautiful mountains of West Virginia. Even so, my heroine found her escape - and her love - in a beautiful snow-covered setting. If you can't physically get away, I hope you'll pick up a book - one of my romances, of course - and let yourself escape into a world where your problems are set aside for a few hours and love always wins.
